description Emerald Bay State Park is adjacent to D.L. Bliss State Park. With its rugged shoreline and blue-green water, Emerald Bay is one of the most photographed places in the world. Vikingsholm, a replica of a Scandinavian castle (800 A.D.), is part of the park. The building is considered one of the finest examples of Scandinavian architecture in the Western Hemisphere. Tours are available of this 38-room mansion. Emerald Bay offers a panoramic view of the lake from Eagle Falls. Hikers can head into nearby Desolation Wilderness or walk the rugged lakeshore to D.L. Bliss along the Rubicon Trail. Check the State Parks website for additional information on the weather, suggested day hikes, or to see the park brochure, campground map, park photos, video, and more. importantInformation Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in. Your DMV Disabled Placard/License Plate does not automatically give you a discount on your campsite. You will need to obtain a CA State park-issued Disabled Discount Pass (DDP) or Distinguished Veterans Pass (DVP). Emerald Bay State Park is site specific; you will select your site at the time you make your reservation. WARNING: Metal bear resistant food lockers are provided in each campsite. All food, beverages, and toiletries are required by law to be stored in provided food lockers. The inside dimensions of the food lockers are 36" deep, 43" wide, and 22" high. Violators will be cited. Camp at your own risk! By choosing to enter or camp at Emerald Bay SP you assume the risk of personal injury or property damaged caused by bears. Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park. Although your site may hold 2 or more vehicles, your reservation only covers 1 vehicle (except for group or specialty sites). Dogs are NOT allowed on beaches or hiking trails. This park is above 6,200-ft elevation. Campsite availability is subject to unpredictable and adverse weather conditions including snow closures, which may result in cancelled reservations. Campers are strongly advised to bring appropriate clothing and camping gear for cold weather conditions. 2017 Reservation Season: Boat Camp (Sites 1-22): 1st-1st May 25 - June 7; reservations available June 8 - September 3; 1st-1st September 4 - September 24; CLOSED when not on reservations. Eagle Point (All Sites): Reservations available June14 - September 3; CLOSED when not on reservations.
